You can create, edit, and fix your Power Automate expressions by expressing your requirements in natural language. You can save a lot of time building expressions manually by invoking Copilot through this feature.

Feature Details

Prior to this feature, you needed to write complex expressions in your cloud flows in Power Automate to process data, do conversions, manipulation, or comparison. With this feature, you can create complex expressions or edit your existing expressions simply by submitting natural language prompts to Copilot in Power Automate.

You need Copilot access in your tenant to use this feature. Turning off Copilot turns off this feature, too.

Business Value

Instead of building out complex rules-based processes from beginning to end, you work with AI to inject intelligent activity orchestration from your cloud flow. You create intent-based generative actions where the large language model (LLM) considers all the resources available to it and dynamically selects the most appropriate actions and sequence of these actions to achieve the desired outcome. This allows for more dynamic automation and saves you time.

Feature Details

Generative actions use generative AI reason over unstructured content and determine what steps and sequences it needs to achieve a process outcome based on instructions and parameters provided by you in natural language.

Building a generative action within cloud flows involves the following steps:

  • Describe the objective of your process in natural language, and let AI develop an automation plan to achieve it.
  • Refine the automation plan generated by the large language model (LLM) and adjust inputs, outputs, and variables as needed.
  • Add reference sources and guidelines in natural language that influence the LLM as it executes the flow.
  • Validate the intelligent action by reviewing how it is achieving the business objective prior to moving the flow into production.
  • Review production run history, analytics, and individual flow run details to ensure your process is performing to expectations.

The ability of generative actions to easily incorporate both structured and unstructured data makes it flexible as information resources are updated. Its reasoning abilities make generative actions uniquely beneficial in the building and maintenance of complex process flows to handle conditions, exception management, and process loops.

The new Automate work button in Excel Online makes it easier than ever to automate tasks and run processes from Excel running on Windows desktop and Mac devices. This allows users to automate repetitive tasks, reduce errors, and boost productivity with just a few clicks, all without leaving Excel, which makes it easy to respond to customers' needs and improves satisfaction.

Feature Details

This feature provides access to prebuilt templates and allows users to build workflows quickly and easily using a native automation capability in Excel desktop on Windows and Mac. An example of the template includes "Monitor incoming emails to an alias in an Excel worksheet" that businesses can use to keep track of customer feedback in Excel.

You can create flows that combine data and perform operations across different Microsoft Dataverse databases.

Feature Details

Currently, you must use the Microsoft Dataverse (legacy) connector to connect to environments outside of the current environment. With this feature, you can connect to other environments from the Microsoft Dataverse connector's actions.

To set the Environment parameter dynamically instead of selecting a specific environment, select Enter custom value at the end of the Environment parameter selector and provide the root URL of a Power Platform environment in the format https://<yourenvironmentid>.crm.dynamics.com/. The URL can be provided as a string, expression, environment variable, or as dynamic content from the trigger or other actions in the flow.

To get the root URL of an environment, you can open the details page of the environment from the Power Platform admin center.

Cloud flows defined in Dataverse solutions simplify administration and application lifecycle for customers by allowing the use of concepts like environment variables, connection references, and solutions. These also help deliver delightful maker experiences like saving flows as drafts, publishing, and versioning.

Feature Details

Many benefits are available when cloud flows are added to Dataverse solutions, including the ability to use features like environment variables and solutions that simplify the process of deploying across environments. Solutions also make it easier to organize and manage a large number of flows by providing a natural grouping. Having flows defined in Dataverse unlocks new functionality such as support for drafts and versioning, and cloud flow run history in Dataverse.

Currently, cloud flows default to being created outside of solutions in Dataverse. With this change, Power Platform administrators can choose for each environment whether cloud flows are created in solutions in Dataverse by default.

You can turn this feature on with the following steps:

  1. Sign in to the Power Platform admin center and select an environment.
  2. Go to Settings > Product > Features.
  3. Under Create new canvas apps and cloud flows in Dataverse solutions, turn on Cloud flows.

If you wish to manually add flows into solutions, you can add an existing flow to a solution from the Solution explorer, or add many cloud flows into solutions using PowerShell.

In Power Automate, the Copilot creating wizard is a tool that helps you design and build flows using AI assistance. You can describe your desired flow, and Copilot generates a preliminary version of the flow. If the initial version isn't satisfactory, you can ask Copilot to regenerate a different variation of the flow, allowing you to explore alternative designs and find the best solution for your needs.

Feature Details

Prior to this feature, you were given a flow recommendation by Copilot after you described what you wanted. You had to either accept it or update your query to regenerate. With this feature, you don't need to update your query. Instead, you can select Regenerate to force a new variation to be generated. You can choose from different variations to select the one you like the best.

Now, you can run a child desktop flow parallel with its parent flow. This feature helps you manage unexpected popups in the target application that could block the parent flow. By running a child flow parallel, you can monitor and manage these popups, ensuring the parent flow continues smoothly. This improvement addresses the limitation of the current concurrency policy, which only allows one flow per machine at a time.

Feature Details

In desktop flows, the 'Run desktop flow' action now includes a new toggle property that lets you set the child desktop flow to run in parallel. Existing actions in past flows aren't affected, as the toggle defaults to running the child flow in sequence.

Only one parallel run is allowed. If a second child flow is set to run in parallel, an error occurs, and any potential outputs of the child flow are ignored.

In many organizations, each machine must have a unique user session. This implies that they can't use machine groups. A list of credentials allows them to use unique credentials for each of their machines. For organizations that want to use automations executed on agent machines, there's no option to define mapping between machine(s) and agent(s). The list of credentials will allow an attended automation to the machine of the right agent.

Feature Details

Allow customers to define lists of credentials and use them in the desktop flow connections. These lists allow customers to define which machine(s) can use these credentials. These lists can be used as login credentials in the desktop flow connections and will benefit from the same credential management feature, such as:

  • Encryption and data protection
  • Password rotation
  • Application lifecycle management

During the public preview, only CyberArk credentials are supported for mapping.

The current Power Automate Process Mining app requires you to download the process model to the client computer. This download puts specific requirements on the hardware resources on the client computer. To unblock your resources, you can use the Azure Process Intelligence Analytic Service instead. With this service, you can use a lightweight desktop app with a process intelligence engine without the need to download the process model. The functionality of the thin desktop application offers features that are identical to the previous full desktop app. This allows you to scale faster, it supports larger process models and doesn't put specific requirements on your computers.
