Graph connectors allow organizations to connect their enterprise data and enhance the range of content sources available within Microsoft Copilot Studio, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and the broader Microsoft ecosystem. This means makers have access to more data sources that are relevant to the agents they need to create, and don't have to create custom or complicated solutions.

Feature Details

Graph connectors allow organizations to connect their enterprise data and enhance the range of content sources available within Microsoft Copilot Studio, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and the broader Microsoft ecosystem.

With this feature, makers have access to more data sources that are relevant to their organization and the agents they need to create, and don't have to create custom or complicated solutions. The feature also improves the quality of agents with graph connectors in Copilot Studio by supporting semantic search for optimal results.

These new out-of-the-box pre-configured Graph Connectors include Zoom, Stack Overflow, Salesforce Knowledge, and GitHub.

Makers can use these configured connectors as knowledge sources when creating new agents, and administrators can set up new connections in the Admin Center, manage data crawling, and set permissions.

Business Value

A frequently cited problem with conversational AI solutions is that end users don't discover the value of the copilot extension. Suggested prompts will immediately improve discovery of the value proposition of the Copilot Studio.

Feature Details

When a maker is authoring their copilot extension, they can add suggested prompts that the copilot will support.

In the case of the Microsoft 365 Chat experiences, these will be highlighted in the center of the page, with title and description, rotated and prominently displayed at the start of each session.

For other channels this functionality will be presented with appropriate experiences for that channel.

Makers can build copilots that use pre-built Azure AI Search indexes as knowledge for more relevant and accurate grounded responses.

Feature Details

Makers will be able to use pre-built indexes (indexes that were built by pro-developers) with minimal friction and low cost, as grounding data for their copilots built using Microsoft Copilot Studio. Such copilots allow users to ask questions in natural language about their enterprise systems being used within their Power Platform tenants. Microsoft will build on the natural language to query approach released with Microsoft Dataverse knowledge and extend the same to copilots using Azure AI Search index as knowledge.

Triggers allow you to create fully autonomous agents that can react to an event such as a table update, a new document, or a newly received email rather than relying on end-user input. This activity feature allows you to track the agent's behavior, which actions were called, and why. This means that you can create agents that work in the background automating business processes for themselves or their team.

Feature Details

Today, agents in Microsoft Copilot Studio are triggered by user input. An end user will ask a question or send a message and the copilot will reason over a series maker defined topics and actions to respond appropriately to the end user.

By adding automated triggers to Copilot Studio, you can cause an agent to run independently of end-user input. The agent will respond to events such as an email arriving, a document being created, or a table row being updated, and then follow its user-defined instructions.

We are also adding an activity tab to the agents in Microsoft Copilot Studio. The purpose of this activity tab is to allow the agent maker to track each historical interaction with their agent. Any time a topic or action gets triggered this will be recorded as a conversation within the activity tab. This will enable the maker to drill into the interaction, and review each action that was called and why the action was called. Note that for this first version of activity, only interactions with the maker will be recorded.

You can build copilots that use non-Microsoft data from external systems as knowledge for more relevant and accurate grounded responses on real-time data with no data movements.

Feature Details

You can now add structured data from non-Microsoft systems, such as Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Zendesk, as grounding data for your copilots built using Microsoft Copilot Studio. Such copilots allow users to ask questions in natural language about the enterprise systems being used within their Power Platform tenants. Microsoft will build on the natural language query approach released with Microsoft Dataverse knowledge and extend the same to select non-Microsoft services.

Business Value

Customers can add to the value of Microsoft 365 Copilot by customizing it to their needs with custom engine copilots to create rich, organization-specific solutions that can be easily accessed and interacted with from Microsoft Copilot. In addition, customers who already have Copilot Studio-built custom agents can use that existing functionality in Microsoft 365 Copilot, which is ever-present across the Microsoft 365 product suite, including office.microsoft.com, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Feature Details

Extending Microsoft 365 Copilot with a custom agent is as easy as turning on the Microsoft 365 Copilot channel and then submitting it to Teams or Microsoft 365, either by submitting to an admin to publish to the line of business catalog, or deploying just for yourself or to a small team using a security group.

Microsoft 365 Copilot supports most common custom agent chat features; messages, quick replies, adaptive cards (with Action.Submit), multi-turn interactions and multi-message responses to a user interaction. In addition, because it's a custom agent, it benefits from Copilot Studio's rich usage analytics, and governance provide by Power Platform Admin Center. Use your existing custom agent from Copilot Studio without any change, just add it to the Microsoft 365 channel.

Image analysis expands the use cases for your custom copilots and delivers more informed responses, empowering users and making their interactions richer.

Feature Details

They say a picture is worth 1,000 words. With image analysis, copilot users can convey complex scenarios, objects, or ideas without typing lengthy descriptions. Copilot gains context from visual cues, broadening its conversational range and yielding more informed responses.

For example, when a user uploads an image of a car and ask,s 'What model is this car?', Copilot will analyze the image and respond with the car model. Later in the conversation, if a user asks, 'What is the range of this car?', Copilot will use the previous image as context to answer the question.

Whether it's explaining a recipe from a food photo, getting advice on troubleshooting a broken printer, or identifying a rare bird species, Copilot can provide detailed insights through Image Analysis.

Unlike other products where customers rely on ALM tools outside the product and from the market, solution management in Copilot Studio ensures ALM capability to create, edit, extend, and deploy copilots with ease of use, better results, and cost-effectiveness.

Feature Details

Solution management in Copilot Studio brings Power Platform application lifecycle management (ALM) directly into the Copilot Studio app.

When you create an agent in Copilot Studio, it's collected within a Power Platform solution. With Power Platform ALM, you can create custom solutions to manage your agents across multiple environments, or for pipeline deployments and other ALM scenarios in the Power Platform admin center.

The introduction of solution management directly into the Copilot Studio app now means you can view, export and import solutions, set your preferred or default environment, configure pipelines, and customize and manage your solutions without having to leave your agent-building environment.

The solution manager in Copilot Studio lets you:

  • Create agents using solutions.
  • Set the preferred solution in Copilot Studio.
  • Create agents and components using a preferred solution.
  • Edit and extend agents and components using a preferred solution.
  • Deploy agents and components using pipelines in Power Platform with a single click.
  • Share agents and components with a user or team.

See Create and manage solutions in Copilot Studio for more details on the solution manager, including how to use it and how it can connect to your wider organizational ALM scenarios.

Generative actions let your makers focus on managing plugins and maintaining artifacts. Businesses can save time as makers don't need to build agents manually, and users get better responses as agents can more easily answer unanticipated questions from the user.

Feature Details

Generative actions allow you to replace the traditional natural language-based approach for topic triggering (using the trigger phrases you've defined in each topic). Instead, your agent uses GPT to select one or more topics or plugin actions to respond to a user's query.

All topics and plug-in actions have an associated description, which is the primary piece of information used when selecting which item should be selected. When enabled, generative actions is responsible for orchestrating the conversations users have with your agent, which can help provide users with a more natural and fluid conversation.

For more information, see Use Generative Actions in Microsoft Copilot Studio.

By controlling the publication of Copilot connectors, makers and admins can ensure your organization's policies are adhered to, including situations where a connector utilizes out-of-date content, uses deprecated connections or services, or requires an update before it can be used again.

Feature Details

This feature allows makers and admins to unpublish a previously published Copilot connector.

Copilot connectors allow makers to connect actions and activities from other services to Microsoft 365 Copilot. However, connectors may need to be disabled in certain scenarios. For example, the content or data being connected to is out of date, your business is no longer using a specific service, or you need to take it offline to make updates to the connector's configuration.

A maker can select a connector and unpublish it to return it to its draft state and prevent it from being shown as ready and usable in Microsoft 365 Copilot. When a published connector is returned to a draft state, its associated solutions will also be updated. Draft solutions can either be edited and published, or deleted.

Admins in the environment can unpublish any connectors present; makers can only unpublish the connectors they own.

This applies to all Microsoft 365 Copilot agents, such as Microsoft 365 Copilot for Sales. It doesn't apply to custom agents created in Microsoft Copilot Studio.

Reduce the number of decisions you need to make for adding knowledge to your copilot by offering a Copilot connector that has both Power Platform connectors and graph connector functionality, making it easier for you to adopt copilot for your existing ecosystems.

Feature Details

You can use out-of-the-box Copilot connectors in Copilot Studio to create knowledge and take action for your agents. With this feature, you can create a single connector that can be used for both connecting to knowledge sources and taking action.

Knowledge is retrieved from Microsoft 365 Graph to provide richness in responses by including productivity data along with business data from connected third-party systems.

Using a single connection means:

  • You can use a single connection for both knowledge and actions by combining the functionality of Power Platform connectors and graph connectors into Copilot connectors.
  • You will no longer need admin intervention to set up a connection with graph capabilities.
  • You will have the same access to view and modify information through a Copilot agent with Copilot connectors as they would if they were logged directly into the third-party system.

This feature lets you use your own encryption keys when encrypting data provided to an agent by your users, or when providing data to Microsoft. Using both your own organization's keys, as well as those provided by Microsoft, gives you greater control and assurance for ensuring your data is protected.

Feature Details

Microsoft Copilot Studio now allows you to use your own customer manager encryption keys (CMKs, hosted in Microsoft Azure Key Vault) to govern how Copilot Studio encrypts your copilot content.

By using customer managed encryption keys (CMKs), you can ensure that any data provided to your agent by your users, and the data you provide to Microsoft, is encrypted both with Microsoft-owned keys as well as your own keys. You maintain control of your keys, providing you further protection over the security of your data and ensuring you have control over how your data is stored at rest.

Key capabilities include:

  • Hosting with Azure Key Vault to manage your keys, lifetimes, and rotation periods.
  • Encryption of all of your content, including copilot topics, settings and configurations, and conversation transcript data.
  • Rotation of CMKs.
  • Revocation of access, if necessary.

The Public Preview for December will support enabling CMKs for environments that currently don't support CMKs.

Business Value

With these new capabilities, organizations can partition work across different members of the team, allows more reuse across different copilot projects, and empower centers of excellence. In turn, ISVs can create and reuse assets to accelerate solution-building for customers.

Feature Details

Microsoft Copilot Studio is a capable authoring environment for makers of all sorts to create sophisticated conversational assistants using generative AI and more traditionally authored topics. As organizations create and deploy more copilots, being able to reuse common building blocks, such as topics, across copilots and, for SIs/ISVs, across instances is a necessity.

Copilot Studio allows customers to export and import topics across copilots and across environments to facilitate this reuse of content and accelerate the multi-copilot authoring environment.

You can test and debug actions in your agents before publishing, so they can account for issues or surprises with how actions work.

Feature Details

This feature improves how you can test and improve you actions when building agents:

Enhanced testing experience: By providing clear and actionable testing information, you can easily understand and implement the necessary steps without confusion. This ensures you can maintain the context of your ongoing tasks in Copilot Studio or Microsoft 365, leading to a more seamless workflow.

Debugging and recommendations: Features such as plugin run history, in-line recommendations, and workflow visibility are invaluable. These tools help you trace issues, understand exceptions, and make effective improvements to your actions. This comprehensive approach to debugging ensures that any problems are quickly identified and resolved, enhancing the overall efficiency of the development process.

Simulated test data: Creating a set of test data allows you to verify the functionality of your actions in a controlled environment. This step is crucial for ensuring correctness and reliability before live deployment. By testing in a simulated environment, you can confidently deploy your solutions, knowing they have been thoroughly vetted for any potential issues.

This feature provides admins with a comprehensive audit record of end-user activities when interacting with agents. It helps security admins mitigate failures, enforce security constraints, adhere to compliance requirements, and respond to security threats effectively.

Feature Details

You can now leverage Microsoft Purview to audit user interactions with agents created with Copilot Studio.

Copilot Studio logs user interactions with generative AI, which are then surfaced in Purview. These logs can provide context for the analysis and usability of conversations or agents, such as which knowledge sources were used and the text transcript of the conversation.

Initially, only activities of authenticated users will be supported.

Business Value

The ability to build and configure rules for an IVR (Interactive Voice Response) agent within Power Apps, allows business administrators to implement call flow changes dynamically, without modifying the agent's logic. This in turn leads to drastic time savings, eliminating testing and deployment cycles within Copilot Studio. This feature is particularly beneficial for enterprises looking to make rapid adjustments in response to environmental factors such as natural disasters or power outages, as well as financial shifts like market fluctuations or policy amendments. It empowers administrators to act decisively in various scenarios, ensuring business continuity and customer satisfaction.

Feature Details

Using Power Apps enterprise you can leverage Dataverse tables to configure dynamic key values for your agent. Such examples include store locations, transfer numbers, broadcast messages, and lines of business. Through the management of these bot rules, business administrators can enhance operational agility and swiftly adapt the IVR flow to their immediate business needs. Utilizing Power Apps circumvents the need for direct modifications to the bot’s logic which in turn eliminates the time associated with standard testing and deployment procedures.

You can set up your Power Apps integration with Copilot Studio in a few simple steps:

  1. Create and configure your Dataverse table in Power Apps.
  2. Create an application in Power Apps to support the administration of your data.
  3. Set up an action in Copilot Studio to connect your Dataverse table to your agent.

Once your application is established, business administrators can directly add, update, and delete key data values and seamlessly publish to the live agent environment. The data associated with the agent will be cached to ensure there is no latency or disruption to the end users.
